What Arnold Lobel said

Quotes from an old interview in The Lion and the Unicorn.

- I began writing for children because I couldn't do anything else.

- I really don't quite know what I'm doing.

- Toad is a neurotic and Owl is a psychotic.

- You tend to like your friends' work. You meet people in the field, and if you like them, you like their work. If you don't like them, you don't like their work. It's very strange. And sometimes a terrible thing is, you meet an artist whose work you hate but you like him and you don't know what to do.

  2. Love these quotes. These are all from the same article? Would be interested to read the whole thing. That last one, it makes me think of something that occasionally crosses my mind... it's the worst when you REALLY love somebody's work, finally meet him/her, and he/she is a total a-hole. Then you don't like the work anymore (or less so anyway)...

  3. I guess Owl is a manic depressive. One minute he's running up and down the stairs and the next minute he's making teardrop tea.
Owl at Home is one of my favorite books ever and my daughter and I still love to play Strange bumps! Strange bumps! What are you? Where are you? (while she hides under the sheets)
    thanks for the cool quotes.
